Charlottesville Welcome Book Summer 2013

Brewery Tours & Tastings

Thomas Jefferson wrote, “I am lately become a brewer for family use”; he took great pleasure in crafting his own beer at Monticello. And the tradition continues. Charlottesville's love of locally crafted beer thrives at our, award-winning microbrewers like Starr Hill, Devil's Backbone, South Street, Wild Wolf and Blue Mountain breweries. Here you can enjoy tours, beer tastings, live music and festivals. A local cidery uses Jefferson’s favorite apple, the Albemarle Pippin, to create its hard cider, rounding out the range of local, artisanal beverages. Be sure to visit the following breweries on your next trip to Charlottesville.

Beer Run

Beer Run, close to downtown, is both a gourmet restaurant serving local, all-natural, organic food and coffee, and a specialty craft beer and wine store featuring one of the most amazing beer selections on the East Coast. Open 7 days a week serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and our sensational Sunday brunch. We feature 17 rotating drafts, one cask-conditioned ale and stock a fantastic wine selection with many local, organic and biodynamic offerings. Beer Run has been featured in Travel + Leisure online, the Washington Post and was voted by Imbibe Magazine as one of America's Top 100 places to have a beer.
